Get Involved

There are many ways in which you can help Healthy Start Manatee carry out its mission.

Advocate: One of the most important roles you can have as a volunteer for the Healthy Start program is to be a voice for families through advocacy to policy makers, the media and your colleagues. In this section you will find information that will assist you when speaking about the Healthy Start program.

Please let us know if you have an encounter with a media representative or policy maker so we can provide appropriate follow-up as needed. Your willingness to advocate on behalf of our most vulnerable residents is commendable and looked upon highly by our local legislators and constituents.

Volunteer:  There are many ways to share your time and talent, from assisting Healthy Start at the many community events we participate in to serving as a community ambassador and helping to educate others about what we do. Contact us to learn more about our activities and what might fit best with your interests. Contact Lauren Blenker, Community Relations & Marketing Coordinator at 941-714-7541 ext. 302 or

Donate: Although Healthy Start is funded in part by the State of Florida, there is a critical need for private support. Nearly 87 cents of every dollar is spent directly on women and their babies. Government funding covers only half of every dollar invested in the care of pregnant women and newborn babies. Healthy Start has made the difference of a lifetime for many families.

We are a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt charitable organization and your financial contributions may be tax exempt.
